Using SyncBack to Backup Data to a FTP Server
SyncBack is a terrific backup and file synchronization software created by 2BrightSparks. I use the freeware version of SyncBack to backup data on various computers. Not only can you schedule backups, you can also synchronize two folders, ensuring the contents of each are identical including replacing an older file with a file having a newer date and/or time.
If you are backing up your data at home, you are off to a great start. However, there is still the potential of data loss due to theft or natural disaster. There are fee based online storage servicse in addition to free online storage services including XDrive , Microsoft’s Skydrive, and countless others.
Another option, if you have an FTP server, is to use SyncBack to backup your data. This offers the advantage of ensuring your data resides offsite, in addition to the ability of using SyncBack’s fantastic scheduler to automate your backups.
