Asterisk Part 7 - Introduction To Trixbox
In the seventh video in this 10 part series of videos on Asterisk, life becomes easier! I explain how to download and use Trixbox, a web interface used to easily configure Asterisk.
If you have watched the previous videos, you may be thinking that Asterisk is really complicated, you must know Linux, be a command line guru, and be familiar with voice protocols, contexts and plenty of other abstract Asterisk lingo!
Fortunately, some geniuses designed an amazing full-featured web interface to assist you configuring and maintaining Asterisk. But it gets better: it’s free, open source and easy to use.
The software is called Trixbox and the free version is called Trixbox CE (which stands for Community Edition) available at www.trixbox.org.
What’s even more exciting is that you can download a pre-configured virtual appliance, with Red Hat Enterprise installed, including Asterisk and the Trixbox web interface. By downloading another free software package, VMWare’s VMware Player, you can run your Linux server in Windows. Talk about the deal of the century!
This video explains how to download and setup the virtual appliance, VMware Player, and accessing Trixbox for the first time: Asterisk Part 7 - Introduction To Trixbox
