Asterisk Part 6 - Using Softphones With Asterisk

In the sixth video in this 10 part video series on Asterisk, we finally get to have some fun. I show you how to use a software based phone, or Softphone, to make calls using Asterisk directly from your computer.

My particular preference for a Softphone is X-Lite, which you can get for free at www.counterpath.com. It is very easy to use and setup, provides a great interface, and it provides good quality of service for your calls.


After some brief configuration of the X-Lite Softphone, which I explain in the video, you will be ready to make your first test!

Claim Your Cash and Other Unclaimed Property

It is estimated that one person in every ten in the United States and Canada has unclaimed property, including bank assets, insurance refunds, and dividends – just to name a few. After hearing about a friend who discovered unclaimed property held by the state of California, I decided to check this out. Sure enough, the State of California holds unclaimed assets AND allows you to file a free claim.

Sound too good to be true? Well, not only have I claimed $110 for dividends I wasn’t aware I had, one co-worker of mine discovered $1300 in her name, and nearly $200 for her dad.
